Lead Pastor and Elder
I was born in the small town of Alice, Texas. I am the fourth of four boys, and I grew up in a family that prioritized Christ and his church. Despite being around the things of God, and having godly parents I did not come to experience the transforming power of Jesus in my life until I was a freshman in college. God began to draw me to himself my senior of high school while I worked at Camp Zephyr, a Christian camp on Lake Corpus Christi. God used the friendships I made a Zephyr, where I ended up working for 5 summers, along with new friendships and mentors I met in college to open my eyes to my need of Jesus. March 4th, 1998 my faith became personal as Jesus Christ became my Lord and savior.
After high school I attended Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas. While I was in college I felt God’s call on my life to vocational ministry. I was unsure at the time what that would mean exactly, but I knew I wanted to study theology. I graduated from Howard Payne in May 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Languages. Upon graduation I moved to the Dallas/Ft Worth metroplex where I continued my studies at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. I graduated from Southwestern in May 2005 with my Masters of Divinity. It was while I was working on my masters degree that I began to serve in full time ministry. In August of 2001 I began to work as a student pastor. I spent 6 years serving a local church in the east Dallas area, and then moved to McAllen to serve as the student pastor of BT McAllen. After spending 10 years in student ministry God called me to serve as the senior pastor of a local church in the Alice area. In December of 2014 God called me back to BT to assume the role of senior pastor. I feel extremely blessed to be able to call such an amazing group of people my church family.
June 1st, 2002 I managed to win the lottery by marrying my beautiful wife, Kristy. I met Kristy while working at Camp Zephyr. Kristy spent the first 10 years of our marriage teaching middle school math, and has been staying home with our children since 2011. We have four amazing kiddos that continually surprise us, challenge us, keep us on our knees, and complete overwhelm us. We feel so blessed that God has entrusted these precious gifts to us, their names are: Noah, Kayna, Judah, and Luke. Kristy and I feel so blessed to call the RGV our home.
In my current role at BT I serve as one of the church’s governing elders and serve the church through providing leadership in three main areas: staff leadership, prayer and vision casting, and the preaching ministry of the church. It is my hope and prayer that BT will be a church who glorifies God by leading people to live transformed lives through biblical teaching, relevant worship, global concern, and authentic community.
