Join us for worship night in the pavilion from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Doors open at 6:00pm.
Join us for our conference day packed with two main session and over 10 breakout sessions to choose from! Doors open at 8:00am and we will begin at 9:00am.

Leading the Charge

Vernisha L. Portis

Vernisha L. Portis hails from the beautiful city of Corpus Christi, Texas. She is the daughter of retired educators Dr. Maurice G. Portis and Dr. Verna Portis. Vernisha attended Texas A&M University-Kingsville in Kingsville, Texas where she received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music Education. Vernisha moved to McAllen in 1999 and began her teaching career as a Band Director in the Rio Grande Valley. From 2006-2018 Vernisha attended Baptist Temple (BT Church) in McAllen and found her passion, gifting and calling for ministering to women in BT Women’s ministries. Vernisha is the mother of three beautiful children, Michael (18), Christopher (16), and Layla (14). In 2018 Vernisha and her children were called from McAllen to Houston, Texas where they now reside. The family currently attends and serves at the 288 Campus of New Hope Church in Manvel, Texas. She currently serves on the Pastoral Care Ministry Team as a personal prayer partner and ministry volunteer. Vernisha has shifted her ministry focus towards raising her children and towards mentoring high school students who are in desperate need of encouragement and the love of Christ. She is currently enjoying her time serving as the Assistant Band Director in Cypress Fairbanks ISD at Cypress Lakes High School in Katy, Texas.

Cindy Cervantes

Cindy Cervantes is the Women’s Ministry Director for BT Church. She lives with her husband, Roy and two Doodles, Reagan and Roosevelt! Above all, she loves Jesus and in close second, her beautiful family: sons Roy who is married to Meg, and Aaron who is married to Holly. She recently has been living on Cloud 9 due to the birth of her grandbabies, Elias and Noah! Cindy can’t wait to share the love of God with you through the teaching of His Word!
